Role in web scraping
Websites often limit how many requests a single IP address can make. Proxies let a scraper distribute requests across many IP addresses, reducing the chance of being blocked and enabling geographically targeted data collection, such as viewing region-specific pricing.
Types of proxies
Common categories include datacenter proxies (fast, but easier for sites to detect), residential proxies (routed through real ISP connections), and mobile proxies (routed through mobile carrier networks).
